Meet Roux! A beautiful 7-month-old Hound mix weighing about 46 pounds. With her soft tan coat and adorable black snout, Roux is as cute as she is charming. Originally from Alabama, Roux has spent most of her life in a kennel environment, so she is still learning what life outside of a kennel is all about. She has a lot to discover, and she would love a patient person who will give her the time and encouragement she needs to experience the world at her own pace.

Roux is a playful girl who loves meeting new dogs. She enjoys making new friends and having canine companions to play with, although she can be quite submissive when meeting them. She is also an incredibly smart and observant dog. Rather than immediately jumping into every situation, Roux is often the type to sit back and watch. She takes in her surroundings, observes what's happening, and takes her time figuring things out. Roux can also be quite the lazy bones! While she certainly enjoys playtime, she's just as happy relaxing and taking it easy. She has a wonderful balance of playful energy and laid-back charm. She can be a little shy at first, particularly when faced with new people, places, or experiences. Give her a little time to feel comfortable, and you'll begin to see her sweet personality come through.

Roux has discovered that puzzle boards and treats are pretty amazing. She's smart and enjoys having opportunities to use her brain, especially when there's a tasty reward waiting for her! Puzzle toys, enrichment activities, treat games, and positive-reinforcement training would all be wonderful ways to keep her mind engaged while helping her build confidence. Because Roux has only known the kennel environment, she needs someone who understands that adjusting to a home and all the new experiences that come with it may take time. She would thrive with a patient and understanding family who is willing to let her settle in at her own pace while encouraging her to explore and experience new things.

At just 7 months old, Roux has her whole life ahead of her. She deserves the opportunity to discover what it feels like to have a family, a home, a comfortable bed, toys to play with, puzzles to solve, and someone to call her own. She may sit back and observe at first. She may need a little extra time to feel comfortable. But underneath that initial shyness is a smart, playful, sweet girl who is ready to blossom. She needs someone who will give her the time and and love to become the confident companion she's meant to be.
