Our Mission

RESCUE - REHABILITATE - REHOME

It is our mission at Hudson Paws to rescue dogs from overcrowded shelters where they often don't get a second chance, to rehabilitate them physically and emotionally, and to place them into their loving forever homes.

There are so many who need homes and we do our best to take in as many as we can handle. Our facility is a wonderful haven and sanctuary for the often traumatized dogs who arrive confused and scared. We nurture them back to a happy, healthy life and work hard to find excellent homes for each and every one of them.

Hudson Paws does not discriminate against any type of breed and we are proud to have a 100% adoption rate. Some are with us a week while others over a year, but eventually they land the perfect forever family to welcome them in.

Hudson Paws is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

Please call 518-567-7599 or email info@HudsonPaws.org to make an appointment to visit us in Hudson Valley NY! Our pups would love to meet you.

Outreach & Education

In addition to dog rescue and adoption, HPDR has several outreach and education initiatives for our local community. We are developing and growing our Outreach and Education Program which is designed to strengthen the human-animal bond while advancing our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs in need. Through interactive education, hands-on experiences, and community partnerships, the program empowers individuals to have compassion for dogs and become advocates for animal welfare. It advances both the well-being of dogs and the strength of the communities we serve.

  • Youth Engagement: We are currently partnering with Perfect10 (a local after school program for girls) to host a new weekly free education workshop series. We are teaching the girls animal welfare, how to interact with and care for dogs, what it means to rescue, and what is involved in getting dogs adopted. P10 aims to inspire and equip girls with the tools they need to build an independent future. Hudson Paws believes in their mission and that understanding and caring for animals is an important part of confidence and compassion in our youth.

  • Community Adoption & Awareness Events: We do several free events throughout the year in partnership with local businesses and state parks. We set up a pen with our puppies for the community to interact with; we educate and advocate for rescue and adoptions. They are fun, educational, and inspiring.

  • Group Training Session for Newly Adopted: We are launching a new low cost group training session program for our community designed to help our newly adopted rescue dogs and their families start off on the right paw. Sessions are taught by Lynn Sarro, professional dog trainer and owner of Dog’s Country Hudson.

  • Staff-Dog Basic Training: HPDR staff conduct daily dog training sessions for the pups in our care. Through positive reinforcement techniques it helps dogs build confidence, reduce stress, develop good manners, increase mental and physical stimulation, aid in the connection they have to humans, and increase each dog’s chance of a successful adoption.
