“Our year began in sadness with the loss of our rottweiler, Maxine.  My son sent me a photo of a puppy with a note "when you are ready" and told me about Hudson Paws.  With the help of Kyrsten, we adopted two great girls, and our sadness turned to happiness.  We take Vicki and Scarlett every day to the dog park and we mention Hudson Paws all of the time.”

“We adopted “Oak” now known as Cooper in January of 2026. He had spent his life there at Hudson Paws until adoption. He is our 3rd rescue out of 5 of our dogs. All 3 were adopted from different shelters/rescues. Hudson Paws has been great to deal with and I keep in touch with them regularly. They made everything super easy. Cooper has been a great addition to our family and has come such a long way since we got him!! We will never get another dog unless it is a rescue!”

We adopted Hudson (Herbie) from you guys while we were in the middle of finishing renovations on our new home. We really appreciated how accommodating you were and it meant a lot to us that you were willing to hold him for a few weeks while we finished up. He is such a goof, and truly one of a kind.

Our experience was so positive that  few months later, when we saw that you had a new litter of puppies come in, we couldn't resist the idea of adding another dog to the family. I was really special that we were able to bring Hudson along to meet the puppies, and after spending some time with them, we (and Hudson) knew that Willow (Carter) was the only choice to complete the family.

Our experience with the rescue has been wonderful, and we're so grateful to have found both of our dogs through you. It means a lot to us that we were able to come back for a second adoption, and we appreciate the care and flexibility you showed us along the way. We are HDPR for life!

For anyone considering adopting a rescue dog, we'd say go for it! Every dog has their own personality, and there's something really special about finding the one that fits your family. We're so happy we gave Hudson and Willow the chance to become part of ours, and we can't imagine life without either of them.

The other day I was at the Hudson dog park and I met someone there who was also so impressed with Hudson Paws. I was telling her how when I was coming to visit Leela with Simone that she would jump on the front door in utter excitement to be there. I think that speaks volumes to the love she received living there. 

We had no idea how much love and purpose these two incredible beings would bring to our lives. They are family more than pets. Hudson Paws is an exemplary rescue center that genuinely cares for the lucky dogs that arrive at their doorstep. I'm excited for anyone that chooses to adopt there.

Adopting Flora (formerly Rayleigh) is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

I can’t thank Hudson Paws enough for the work they do. Flora was picked up as a stray running around in Georgia, and was languishing in a shelter there when Hudson Paws found her and saved her from the euthanasia list. 

I started off fostering Flora, and immediately fell in love. She has nothing but love to give. She charms everyone she meets, from my 85 year old mother who doesn’t like dogs, to every person and dog she insists on greeting.

The adoption process was seamless. I couldn’t be more grateful to Hudson Paws for helping to bring this girl into my life. I have had several rescue dogs in my life, and I can’t recommend adopting enough. 

When it hasn’t been easy in the past, I take to heart something that Cesar Milan said: “Don’t give up on your dog, and don’t give up on yourself.” When there have been challenges, I have always grown from committing to figuring things out with patience and positive training.

With Flora, she moved right in and wants to be a good, good girl everywhere she goes. From daycares to veterinary clinics, everyone lights up when she walks in the door. If you are considering adopting, go for it.

And in my opinion, feel free to let go of any ideas you’ve heard about breed specificity or reluctance about age (thinking you need a puppy because you don’t know what they’ve been through…) Flora is a poster child of a perfect companion and good sport, even if she looks scary to some people who might judge based on appearances. This girl is aces.

“Hudson Paws was great!! Back in May of 2025, we decided to adopt another dog after losing ours to old age over a year before. We looked at all the eligible pups and made a list of the ones we thought would be good for us. You were patient on the phone, helped us filter out some that might not fit our lifestyle, and then set up a time for us to come meet the pups. There were four of them, and again, you were friendly and patient as you brought each out and allowed us to enjoy each dog. At the time, we felt two could be for us, so we took a day or two to think about it. We came back, met with them again, and Sasha picked us. She seemed to remember us and immediately came and sat at our feet, and that was it. Sasha is a gentle girl and loves everybody. She gets along with all the dogs at the park, loves kids, plays hard, then goes "couch potato" in a matter of seconds. She is our third rescue, and I encourage anyone considering adopting one to do so.”
