Penny
Your New Best Friend
Meet Penny, she is a 2-year old Staffordshire mix weighing about 35 pounds. She is a petite powerhouse and a bundle of love and joy. She has loads of energy, but once she gets some outside play time her favorite thing is to curl up on the couch. Her coat is a striking amber color and her build is small and muscular. She will look at you with her amber eyes full of joy and deep devotion. She is great at leash walks and loves to give kisses. She is house trained and did beautifully on a few overnights with a volunteer. She does not do well with most other dogs so she will need to be an only child. Looking for a smaller companion? She is your gal! Penny is eager and ready to be a part of your family!
* Penny’s person must have experience with complicated rescue dogs who have trauma from their past. Someone with experience adopting adult rescue dogs who can manage reactivity to other dogs VERY selective with her dog friends (females in particular). She will need to be an only dog in the household. She can get jumpy when she is excited to see anyone she knows and loves, and can get nippy with enthusiasm. She is toy aggressive and will need a lot of training to undo this behavior. She needs to be with someone willing to shower her with love, she will need a lot of time, patience, and an experienced dog handler.
Staffordshire Terrier are full of courage and tenacity, agility and strength. They are a mild, playful, eager-to-please companion with a reputation for being patient with the whole family and a special feel for kids. These are true-blue loyal companions, but it is vital that the pups be socialized with other dogs to learn good canine manners. Staffords do not usually stand particularly tall but they pour a gallon of dog into a quart-size container. These are rock-solid, muscular terriers. Learn more about the breed HERE.
