Meet Lazlo!

Lazlo is a sweet 6-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing approximately 18 pounds, with a sensitive soul and a gentle heart. He has spent nearly his entire life in rescue, including more than two years with us, waiting for a person who will give him the time and understanding he needs to feel at home.

Lazlo is currently in a foster home with four other dogs and is doing wonderfully! Seeing him experience the comforts of home alongside canine friends has been so rewarding. Other dogs help him feel more comfortable, and he often follows their lead when finding his confidence.

Lazlo loves being outside, exploring, and running around with his dog friends. Those moments bring out his playful side and offer a glimpse of the happy little companion beneath his initial shyness. Once Lazlo gets to know and trust you, his sweet, affectionate side shines through! He loves coming over for snuggles, soaking up plenty of pets, and giving kisses to his favorite people. Those tender moments make earning this little boy’s trust so rewarding.

Meeting new people can still feel overwhelming for Lazlo. He may bark and move away when he’s unsure, and he needs people to respect that request for space. With a gentle approach and time to observe without pressure, he slowly begins to relax and let his personality show.

Lazlo would be a wonderful match for a woman with other friendly dogs and a calm, quiet home. He feels more comfortable with women and would benefit from canine companions who can offer reassurance as he settles in. He has also been slowly opening up to men, although building that trust takes considerable time and patience.

His ideal home would have a peaceful routine, few visitors, and preferably a securely fenced yard where he can enjoy the outdoors. His person should understand shy dogs and be happy to let their relationship develop at his pace, celebrating each small step toward trust.

After so many years in rescue, Lazlo deserves the everyday comfort of belonging: a familiar place to rest, dog friends nearby, and a person who understands him. His progress in foster care has been beautiful to see, and we’re hoping his next chapter brings the lasting home he has waited so long to find.
