Keanu is a 7-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing approximately 18 pounds, with a big heart and a deeply loyal nature. With someone he trusts, this little fellow becomes an affectionate companion who loves spending time with his person. Walks are a particular favorite—he’s always happy to head out and explore alongside his trusted friend.
Keanu needs a quiet home with a male adopter and must be the only dog in the household. He does not respond well to women although he is improving, and his future person will need to understand and carefully manage that sensitivity, including when visitors come over.
Once Keanu learns to trust you, his affectionate side truly shines—he loves cuddling close, asking for plenty of pets, and soaking up time with his favorite person. He does have a bite history and needs an experienced, patient adopter who will respect his boundaries and work with our team to understand his triggers and help him feel secure.
We have been working with Keanu on socialization, and he is slowly showing improvement. His previous owner was an older man, and we suspect Keanu may have had limited exposure to other people and dogs. While we don’t know the full extent of those experiences, we can see that unfamiliar interactions can be difficult for him.
Keanu is looking for a calm, predictable life with someone who will let trust develop at his pace. His progress is encouraging, and he will need continued support from a person who takes his behavioral needs seriously while appreciating his affectionate side.
For the right person, companionship with Keanu could mean peaceful days together, walks filled with interesting smells, and the love of a little dog who forms a strong bond with his trusted human.
